The 42nd Annual Miccosukee Indian Arts and Crafts Festival From December 26, 2016 until January 1st, 2017, come and witness the celebration of our tradition at the Miccosukee Indian Village. NATIVE AMERICAN ENTERTAINMENT: Stage Performances by multiple Native American Tribes • The Great Plains Dance Company –A group of over 25 young performers from the Dakotas that will highlight the beauty and folklore of various Pow-Wow Competition Dancing Styles • Jasmine Bell –The world’s BEST female Hoop-Dancer and winner of America’s top Co-ed Hoop-Dancing competitions, Jasmine Bell will show you the art of the Hoop-Dance and the history of this beloved Native American art form. • Sky’s Iroquois Smoke Dancers –The Iroquois Nation travels south to exhibit the art of Smoke Dancing, a fast paced dance that will have the audiences clapping and standing on their feet! Do not miss the intense sounds and vibrations of the Smoke Dance as performed by this amazing group of Iroquois dancers. • The Miccosukee Indian Fashion Show –On December 26 and the 30th the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida will display the very best of Miccosukee Tribal fashion. Come and be mesmerized as a parade of colors and designs bring life to Miccosukee regalia. Photo opportunities with the dancers will be available after each performance. Witness Heart Racing Miccosukee Alligator Wrestling Shows • A true display of man versus nature! Alligator Wrestling is done by Miccosukee Tribal members and our World Famous Miccosukee Alligator show is the very best of its kind that you and your loved ones can witness. The age-old art of Alligator Wrestling is a tradition that has been handed down through generations by Miccosukee Indians in order to teach each other how to hunt for alligator by themselves without weapons. The methods used by the Miccosukee Indians allow them to hunt the alligator with respect and compassion for the animal and nature. The ALL NEW Alligator Encounter (Price NOT included in admission ticket) • Come and get a heavy dose of adventure and fun as you experience The Alligator Encounter at the Miccosukee Indian Village. For an additional price, have a Miccosukee Alligator Wrestler teach you how to respectfully touch and mount a large size Florida Alligator. You will never be witness to anything close to this experience. Have you ever had a Miccosukee Tribal member teach you the art of Alligator Wrestling? Have you ever touched and mounted a live large size Florida Alligator…and lived to tell the story? This year you will have a chance to experience the Alligator Encounter during the festival. Come and interact with the artists or check in sporadically as you see a blank canvas transformed into a beautiful piece of art that will elevate your emotions to new plateaus. • Both artists will be painting daily and will have some pieces of art for sale while the items last.
